50A RATHBONE PLACE LONDON
ENVY TO SPEND 2.2M DOUBLING CAPACITY
June 2007

Post-Production outfit Envy is splashing out 2.2m on a major upgrade which will double the facility's capacity just 15 months after launch.

Envy will spend 1.2m expanding into seven-storey premises on Margaret Street, which are due to open in July... It is also investing 400,000 in its flagship facility on Rathbone Place, including installing a 5.1 studio. Margaret Street will be fitted with 18 Avid Adrenalines and two Final Cut Pros supported by an Avid Unity isis storage system. The company will take on 10 new staff as a result of the expansion. Managing Director Dave Cadle said: "The post industry is very buoyant and we are actually looking into opening a third premises. Although our success might seem unusual as we're a new company, we started with a very experienced team. The fact that the company is owned by the workforce keeps creative levels high too".

The expansion has been part funded by 750.000 of private investment from stakeholders such as producers and editors within Envy, with the balance made up by an equipment lease. Each of the four board members Dave Cadle, City businessman David Gibbs, Envy General manager Dave Bocarro and entrepreneur Bill Bottriell, own significant stakes in the company. It cost 5.6m to set up Envy in February 2006 - 2.2m from private equity. Envy's current projects include a BBC reality show The Restaurant, in which couples are challenged to run their own eatery.
